Busy Halal LLC ("Busy Halal," "we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in Illinois, United States, operates the Busy Halal platform — a halal marriage service for Muslims aged 25 and older. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. 1. Information We Collect
Account information
Your name, email address, phone number, and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form — we never store or see your actual password). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
Profile information
Information you choose to share for matching: display name, date of birth (other members only ever see your age, never your birth date), gender, city and state, profession, education, languages, marital status, religious practice (such as prayer habits and religious orientation), family situation (including whether you have children, how many, and their age groups), lifestyle and marriage preferences, photos, and your written bio.
Verification information
Email and phone verification status; the pass/fail result of your selfie check (the selfie image itself is analyzed in memory and never stored); and the pass/fail result of government-ID verification, which is performed entirely by Stripe Identity. Busy Halal never receives or stores your ID document images.
Location
With your permission, we use your device location to show nearby members and suggest meeting places. We store only an approximate area (rounded coordinates covering roughly a square kilometer), never your exact GPS position. Your location is never shown to other members — they only see your city and an approximate distance.
Messages and calls
Messages you send to matches are stored so your conversations work. Voice calls are carried in real time by Agora and are not recorded by Busy Halal.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your card number — we keep only your subscription status and Stripe reference IDs.
Usage information
Basic technical logs needed to keep the platform secure, and — only if you consent on the cookie banner — anonymous Google Analytics usage statistics. See the Google Analytics & Cookies section of our Terms.
We also keep our own first-party product analytics: pseudonymous records of product
events (for example "signed up," "sent a like," "viewed Discover") linked to your
account ID. We use them solely to understand and improve how the platform works —
they never include the content of your messages or profile, are never sold or shared
with anyone, and are permanently erased when you delete your account. Before you
create an account, we set a first-party cookie (bh_aid) containing only
a random identifier so we can measure how visitors move from the landing page to
signup; it does not identify you personally and is not used for advertising.
2. Sensitive Information
Religious information shared on this platform is treated as sensitive data and will never be sold, shared for marketing, or used for advertising purposes. Information about children relates to the adult member's family situation only (counts and age groups) — we never collect names, photos, exact ages, or any identifying information about children, and the Services are strictly for adults 25 and older.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate matching, messaging, calls, and the rest of the Services
- To verify identity and keep fake profiles off the platform
- To protect members — including automated screening of messages and photos for safety, with final decisions reviewed by human administrators
- To process subscriptions and send service emails and safety SMS you request
- To improve the platform (our own first-party product analytics; Google Analytics only with your consent)
- To comply with legal obligations
4. Who We Share Information With
We never sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the platform:
- Stripe — payment processing and government-ID verification
- Twilio — SMS delivery (verification codes and the safety texts you trigger yourself)
- Agora — real-time voice call delivery
- Google — sign-in with Google, location services, and (with consent) Analytics
- SendGrid — transactional email delivery
- AI processing providers — content safety screening, voice-onboarding transcription, and other AI-assisted features labeled in the app
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We may also disclose information when required by law, or to protect the safety of our members or the public.
5. What Other Members See
Other members see only your public profile: display name, age (never your birth date), city, photos, and the profile details you filled in. They never see your email, phone number, exact location, safety contact, or verification documents. Unverified accounts are not visible to other members at all.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos (including stored files), messages, matches, likes, and subscription records are permanently erased. Abuse reports and administrative audit logs may be retained for safety and legal compliance. Stripe retains payment records as required by financial regulations.
7. Your Rights
You can access and correct your information at any time in the app, and delete your account (Settings → Profile Management). You may also email us to exercise any of these rights.
California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and shared, to request deletion of your personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. 8. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls, rate limiting, and regular security reviews. No platform can guarantee absolute security; if a breach affects your personal data we will notify you promptly in accordance with applicable law.

We use a small number of cookies — see the Google Analytics & Cookies section of our Terms for details. Analytics cookies load only after you consent, and you can change your choice at any time in Settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last Updated" date.
